Nicolaus Copernicus

Copernicus was the first person to assure that the earth circled around the sun, and not vice versa like other researchers had affirmed since medieval times. This book is so valuable since it is an example of how throughout scientific observation, we can obtain very significant results for knowledge.

Although Copernicus was not accepted during his time, different experts such as Galileo Galilei where profoundly touched with his discoveries that followed his way of thought and the functions of the now modified solar system.

Andreas Vesalius

Vesalio, Andrés. De humani corporis fabrica libri septem. Basileae: in oficina Ioannis Oporini, 1543.

This particular Vesalius book is essential and extremely valuable to the scientific and artistic worlds. This book changed the course of history due to its content; it helped medical physicians understand the human anatomy, as well as helped artists redefine and improve their paintings of human body. Vesalius, in order to get as close as to the reality of the human corps had to open and experiment with real bodies. Although the church saw with mistrust and suspicion the “De humani corporis fabrica libri septem” book, the author had the publication rights and protection of King Charles I of Spain.

This essential book beholds hundreds of woodblock prints in pear wood that just so; this book is an enormous artistic merit.
